Best destinations to visit in Europe in the spring
Visiting Europe in the spring is a great idea because most of the countries are relatively warm and there are less tourists than the summer time. I have visited a number of European countries in the spring and have had a good time on each visit. Of course, the weather can be unpredictable, however, it is a risk you need to take. The best destinations to visit in Europe in the spring are based on places I myself have visited.
Paris
Let’s start off in France. Paris is a great place for the spring time. You wouldn’t want to visit here in the summer as it is a bit too stuffy and winter can get too cold. Spring time allows you to take your time strolling the streets. You can visit the museums, go on a boat ride and see the Eiffel tower. One thing i’d recommend doing is to have a cute picnic by the Eiffel Tower and then watch the sunset if it’s not cloudy.
Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre is a beautiful place with 5 villages to visit. The town itself is extremely popular. I only went for a day and it was very busy with tourists. It feels more crowded due to the size of the villages, but as I went in April, I can imagine the summer being so much worse (in terms of people, not views). You can swim in the sea, go on a boat trip, view the landscapes and try some good seafood. It is definitely a place everyone should visit.
Florence / Tuscany
Florence is a beautiful town to visit in the spring. The architecture and history of the town in incredible. You will be able to walk through the town without feeling too cold which is always nice. You can also go to a viewpoint and watch the sunset. If you want to do a day trip, i’d recommend booking a wine tour to Tuscany. You’ll get to see the beautiful vineries and fields as well as learn more about how they make their wine.
Zadar
Zadar is located in Croatia. It is less popular than some of the popular towns you may have heard of, such as Split. However, it still has a few things for you to do. There is a beach with a jumping board to enjoy and the weather is pretty descent during the spring. You can also visit the old town or watch the sunset. Furthermore, if you want to do a day trip, you can visit some of the surrounding islands or even do a trip to Plitvice.
Madeira
Now, Madeira may be a bit of a different vibe from the other European places mentioned. It is a Portuguese Island known for it’s beautiful hikes, beaches and views. It was honestly one of the most incredible places I have been to. I went in the beginning of Summer, but I think Spring would have been better. It is still very dry during the springtime and the weather may be more suitable for the hikes. I think (but don’t quote me) it may also be a bit cheaper if you go in the springtime as it is not during the summer holidays. I know a lot of people go during June-October, so spring seems like a great option to explore this Island.
Like I have said previously, there are loads of places in Europe that are good for spring visits. Other ones I would recommend include Amsterdam, the South of France and Madrid. All of these recommendations are very different from one another. In conclusion, most European cities are great options for your next spring trip ๐
