How to spend your valentines day in Paris
“Valentines is coming, where is your boyfriend??” – look up the youtube video.
Anyway, it’s January, which means February is soon approaching….which means, valentines day. If like me, you are single, then it is not exactly a fun time. Last year for valentines day I went to the most romantic city in the world, Paris. Granted, it was for a friend’s birthday, however, the itinerary we did could be for a romantic getaway and for a friends getaway. This is how to spend your valentines day in Paris.
1) City centre
Start off the day by going for coffee and breakfast in the city centre. Try to locate yourself near to the Eiffel Tower. There are a lot of cute little cafes around so you have a wide variety to choose from. Spend some time just wandering the street and go into some bookshops or any other random shops. It may not seem lively, but it can be very wholesome. Once you have tired yourself out, head to the Eiffel Tower and maybe sit down in the park with a bottle of wine (if you drink) and have a chill time. It’s pretty affordable and romantic if you ask me. If you want to be a little bit more extra, you could always pay to go on top of the Eiffel Tower to look at the views and then head for some lunch.
2) Louvre Museum
After lunch, go to the Louvre Museum. It holds some beautiful art pieces, including the famous Mona Lisa. The museum is quite big, but you do not have to enter all of the rooms if you are tight for time. I just think it’s nice to be able to say that you have seen the Mona Lisa in person. I would say you need a couple of hours here, but it depends on how much you like art and how long you take walking around. You can book tickets online or risk the long queue and buy at the door. Just check to make sure you know what time it closes and give yourself enough time.
3) Romantic boat ride
After you have spent the day on your feet, head back to your accommodation to get ready for the main event. A must-do cliche activity is a romantic boat ride with dinner. We booked a boat trip in the evening that had a live band with a 3-course meal. The boat went along the river and passed by the Eiffel Tower. It was pretty cold so make sure you wrap up well! You can find multiple different boat tours via google, just make sure you look at the reviews! If you don’t want to stop the night here, you can always head to the Arc de Triomphe and take some cute pictures. There are some bars and shops in this area if you wish to end the night with another drink.
Of course this is coming from a girl who is very much single and has never celebrated Valentines day (hopefully this doesn’t take away my credibility), but I personally had a lot of fun with my friends following this. It is also somewhat affordable. Of course there is a lot more to do, but hopefully this has provided some ideas on how to spend valentines day in Paris.
