Where should I visit in Croatia for a short time?
A current question you may be asking yourself (especially if you have come across this article) is ‘Where should I visit in Croatia for a short time?. I’m here to provide my opinion. Although, you of course don’t have to listen to it.
Croatia is a popular destination, especially for a European summer. It offers old towns to stroll down on a hot day, lovely beaches and great islands. Over the past few years, I have been seeing more people looking to spend their European summer exploring Croatia. However, the most popular destinations that you have probably heard of, are Dubrovnik and Split. I prices for these 2 towns were out of my budget so I tried to look elsewhere. I only wanted to go for a few days and found a place called Zadar.
Zadar is a seaside town in Croatia, less popular and less touristy, yet still has good vibes and good things to do. I only went for 3 days, but could have gone for a few more. On the main land there is an old town with lots of shops and restaurants. There is also a beach for relaxing. The town offers several water activities (such as a boat trips) if walking around isn’t your thing.
If you want to do a day trip, there are a few you can look at online. I went to Plitvice Lakes for the day which was absolutely beautiful. It was a full day which was spent walking around a natural park with around 16 lakes and waterfalls. When we got back, we dressed up and watched the sunset at the famous Sea Organ (another thing I would recommend you do).
There are several islands surrounding Zadar that you could visit or stay on if you do not wish to stay on the mainland for long. I must note that when I was researching, there was not much to do on the islands. However, they looked stunning and seem like a great place to visit if you are seeking a more relaxed vibe away from crowds.
If you think Zadar is a place you’d visit, have a look at accommodations available. Try looking at both the main town and the islands. You could split your time here by staying on both.
